A very belated update

It has been quite a while since I last updated this blog. The primary reason being that I faced no opposition when I ran for re-election in 2013. Now I am faced with two opponents in the May 2, 2017 primary election whom I do not personally know. Nor do I know what they bring to the table. I guess that particular aspect will be fleshed out during the campaign. In the meantime, my campaign for re-election will simply focus on what I have accomplished in the past seven years; which, I believe, is significant. However, instead of utilizing this blog for the campaign, I now have a web page that I hope you might visit sometime.

I thank you for taking the time to visit this blog and read my update.

Most sincerely,

Kevin

Scioto County Commission

Announcing for Scioto County Commission

It has been my utmost pleasure to serve on the Portsmouth City Council, representing the First Ward, for six years now. As a legislator, I have initiated and/or introduced more successful legislation than any full council in many years; including the switch to Council/City Manager form of government and much more. As much as I enjoy legislation I feel it time to switch to administration; as a County Commissioner. Soon I shall set up a separate blog to discuss my race for commission as well as my platform and calendar of events in 2016 both for the March 15, 2016 primary and the general election in November 2016. Finally, and obviously, I seek your support.

Warmly,

Kevin

"Friends of Kevin Johnson"

Like many other elected officials I maintain a political account, registered with the Secretary of State, for which I raise funds to help in my re-election as well as pay for miscellaneous expenses such as postage, official local events and campaigning for ballot issues (but not other candidates) of importance to the City of Portsmouth. This year not only am I up for re-election but I am campaigning on behalf of two (2) very important City Charter amendments on the ballot this November. And I need your help.

Your donations make a difference for me; whether it be $5.00, $10.00 or $100.00. Please find the PayPal tab, to the right, making it convenient for any to contribute.

Campaign Contributions - a BIG Thank You !

As you know, personal contributions are critical to any campaign. And I am very grateful to many who have contributed to my campaign so that I may manage campaign expenditures with the able assistance of my campaign treasurer, Jim Donnally. Now that the election is over, this campaign fund will be utilized to offset costs encumbered in my official capacity as a member of the City Council.

As of November 4, friends in Portsmouth and across the country donated over $9,700 to in support of my successful campaign for Portsmouth City Council in the First Ward.

Kevin Johnson for Portsmouth City Council, Ward 1

Deciding to run for Portsmouth City Council in the First Ward was, as you may know, not an easy decision. From personal concerns to the state of our city government, there were many issues for me to sort through as I pondered this opportunity to serve. In making this decision, however, I decided there could be no second guessing. I am now committed to being the best member of Council one can possibly be should I be so honored as to be elected in November.

And why should you help me to be elected to Council?

Quite honestly, I believe I will be a very good representative in Council.

I believe in, and wish to bring to Council, good communications, real planning, transparency in the decision-making process and participation by Portsmouth citizens in the process by which we govern ourselves and by which we affect all of Scioto County.

In future blogs I shall share ideas and more information concerning my upcoming campaign.

Sincerely,

Kevin
